Below is a list of Christian business books, as prepared by Martha Brangenberg and Jim Brangenberg – iWork4Him.
Change Agent – Os Hillman
a. A few quotes from the book
i. Born-again Christians fail to display much attitudinal or behavioral evidence of transformed lives…most of the lifestyle activities of born again Christians were statistically equivalent to those of non-born again.
ii. The further we move away from a biblical world view, the less influence we will have in this world.
iii. During the roman empire after Constantine proclaimed Rome the holy roman empire…it was because “Christians transformed culture by the way they lived”
iv. “It doesn’t matter if the majority of the culture is made up of Christians. It only matters who has the greatest influence over the cultural mountains.
b. 2 Chronicles 7:14New International Version (NIV)14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
c. Os then goes on and describes how we need change agents in all 7 cultural mountains: Business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family and the church.
Emyth by Michael E. Gerber
a. Why small businesses don’t work and what to do about it. Not based on Christian Principles but it is the amazing story of 1000’s of small businesses and what they do wrong.
b. Based on the fact that most people who start businesses are great technicians that think they can do it better. Then they start doing all the things they don’t do well and it is a nightmare.

The Impacter by Dr. Jim Harris
This is a great read. Really inspiring and really the life story of so many Christian Business owners I know. Flawed and imperfect, the Christian business owners I know just want to make an impact for Christ in their business. They just don’t know how. Using the 4 virtues of Character, Competence, Courage and Commitment that are spelled out in this book every CBO should be able to take the practical words of Scripture and incorporate that message into their organization. It only took a few hours to read. I was very impressed with how clear the message was. Download it today for FREE! www.toahigherlevel.com

When Work and Family Collide – Andy Stanley
In Andy Stanley’s book When Work and Family Collide he stresses the importance of balancing those two areas of our life. We must not cheat our families by spending too many hours at work. He is not suggesting that we should cheat work either. In the book he shows us how to prioritize your life so that you don’t have to cheat in either area. He shares scriptures that focus on work and family that back his thought process and he even shares tools that he has used in his own life.
Halftime by Bob Buford
Success vs. Significance. Are you tired of chasing success? What to live a life of significance? Is God calling you out of your workplace into a paid ministry, or is He shifting your view of your workplace from a job to a calling.
Upside of Adversity – Os Hillman
Can God actually use prolonged difficulty in our lives for good? Os. Hillman says yes! After a sever year journey filled with adversity in his personal and work life, Os went from the pit of despair to operating an international speaking and teaching organization for workplace leaders that has taken him to more than 20 countries. Like the Joseph of the Bible, Os let God use a long string of personal calamities – what he terms his “Joseph Pit” – to form him for leadership, influence and service.
Fields of Gold – Andy Stanley
Fields of Gold will change the way you think about money and giving. When we truly understand God’s power and presence, we can’t help but trust Him to meet our needs. In my favorite part of this book, Jim uses a bus analogy, Collins claims that great companies first get great people on the bus, then decide where to drive it. According to Collins, the right people are your most important asset.

Radical by David Platt
WHAT IS JESUS WORTH TO YOU? It’s easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily… BUT WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO LIVES LIKE THAT? DO YOU? In Radical , David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences.
