Staff Accountant Job Description - New Life Solutions

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track New Life Solutions and Shepherd’s Village assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs month end close duties.
• Prepares monthly financial statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts, including payroll and benefits liabilities.
• Gathers necessary account information and documents to provide to external auditors and CPA for annual financial statement audit and tax return.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Works well independently.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required; however, experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the degree.

• Two years of not-for-profit accounting experience preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
